My dad came to LA for his first visit since we moved. The house smelled like coffee at all times of the day, he came with me when I dropped the kids off at school, and when I picked them up. We saw Hollywood, we walked through cemeteries, we went to a fantastic Kings game, we talked about the plants in southern California, he played chess with Nolan again and again, we swam, he read to Abby, we met Conan, we had a family movie night, we ate at restaurants, we ate at home. It was wonderful. I was so sad to leave him at the airport today. Nolan told me as we were driving home from the airport that he wished Pappaw was still here. I told him that I did too. As we were walking into the house, he turned around with a look of panic, and said, 'we forgot to play Uno with him!', something that we had briefly discussed doing last night (before the evening changed from game night, to movie night). I told him that we will play Uno when he comes back. I can't wait until he comes back.
